Friday's Fun, Facts & Tips - RSVP's

Today I am going to have a look at the minefield that is RSVP's. This is one part of the wedding planning that causes a great deal of stress. Even though you send out your invites in plenty of time and give a date for when they have to reply some people just can't to grips with letting you know if they are going to be coming or not!

Here are some tips on how to try and lower the stress levels when dealing with RSVP's

  • when you send your invites and RSVP's make sure the date that guests have to reply by is very clear. No one can then say they did not know they was time limit.
  • Keep all replies in one place maybe get an old show box and pop them in here whenever you get a reply.
  • If someone tells you rather then sends a reply, note this down and pop it in your box. You don't want to forget that uncle Bob told you he was coming and then start chasing him for a reply!
  • Also make sure your partner know the system that you have for replies, they might get replies handed to them or they might be told and may forget, meaning you do not know the exact numbers and are chasing the wrong people.
  • Now I love spreadsheets and I think they can some in very handy for keeping a check on anything. Design a spreadsheet (it only has to be simple) so you can all the information of you guests on. This could be an extension of a spreadsheet that you made for your guest list. Good things to include on your spreadsheet - name, address, Type of invite (All day or evening), replied received, attending or not, any diet requirement's, accommodation needed.
  • when you reach your deadline date go through and make a list of people that have not replied (fingers crossed all your guests would of replied) and make a star of contacting them. Don't feel bad about chasing them you are paying a lot of money out and you do not want to be paying for meals that are not going to be eaten!
  • If you have am evening lost they maybe people that you would quite like to invite all day but didn't have the room before. Make a reserve day list so when people drop out you can change these people to the whole thing!
Above all try and stay calm you don't want to look back at your planning and all your remember is the stress you had with your gusts not replying!
