Friday's Fun, Facts & Tips - Choosing the Venue

Hello,

Friday is here and we are all looking forward to the weekend.

Today we have some great tips that will help you when you are choosing your venue, we also have some questions to ask the venue to make sure you get the best place for you.

The venue for your wedding will probably be the biggest expense on your wedding budget, so you will want to make sure that it is the right place for you and that they can provide everything that you want to make your big day special.

Here are a few things to find out about your venue before you take that leap and book it!!
  • Is your date free
  • Are there any other weddings that day
  • Ask if you can come and see the venue set up for a wedding or see if they have pictures of it set up
  • What is the capacity of the venue, you may have to cut your guest list if you want to have a venue that you have set your heart on.
  • Does it have disabled access
  • Check to see if there are any other events on in the local area, this may have an inpact on the number of rooms avliable or the cost of the venue
  • Have a couple of visits, maybe take a couple of different people with you. You may just see the good points of the venue someone else will be able to help you look at the practicalities
  • Ask if the they decorate or can you do this yourself. If they do the decorations are you able to have a say in this
  • ask about timings, do you have to be out at a certin time, doe sthe music have to be off at a certin time
  • Find what the price includes. the final price may not include Chairs, Tables, table cloths, Chair covers, glasses
  • Ask about payments, how much is the deposit/when doe sthe final payment need to be made.
  • You might be able to bring your own alcohol, but do check what the corking fee is for this (this is the price that is charged for ever bottle that is opened)
  • Ask about the food, can they cater for any special needs, what sort of choice do they have (buffett, sit down) are you able to bring in your own caterer
  • Do they have a dancefloor (some venues may charge for the dancefloor!!)
  • can the venue accomadate a live band (if you are having one)
  • Can guests use the car park for free or does this have to be paid for? You might be able to ge a few spaces for free.
  • Does the venue allow candles/fireworks besto to ask if you can use candles early, you dont want to be left with hundreds of tea lights!!
  • If you are lookign at a hotel ask about accomadation, some hotels with give the Bride & Groom a free night. If you have guests who would like to stay you might be able to get a discount for block booking rooms
But the most important thing is that you both love the venue!! I am sure if you love a venue if they is a little snag then you will find a way of working around it.
Don't be affried to ask the venue for discounts, and to ask for what you want it is your day nd a good venue will try their best to make your day the way you want it!!!

If you have any other tips on picking your venue then fell free to add them in the comments box.

Have a great weekend and if you are off venue hunting have a great time!!
